I've had this image for a while and it's truly inspirational. Yes you can look fierce with two small kids in tow. Yes you can look fierce even if you're bored out of your mind at a game. Yes you can look fierce while you pretend to be paying attention but what you're really thinking about is how fierce you look. Yes bitch!! She is giving it! Casually fierce.
What more is there to say?
DONE!

SIZE MATTERS
V Magazine: The Size Issue
To be perfectly honest with you this is NOT what I want to see when I open a fashion magazine. I can care less about models and don't really obsess about who's who. I completely focus on the clothes. On a size 0 there's really nothing to look but the CLOTHES!
When women have curves, booty, love handles and such you can't help but see them as human...and you lose sight of what's important here...CLOTHES!!!!
Aside from the poor styling job...I mean who wears Guess Jeans anymore? Seriously. And really, wheres the couture?! I mean this is V magazine!! If it had been beautifully styled this issue would be groundbreaking but as far as I'm concerned the most beautiful image was the nude.

The main issue about "Plus Size" fashion is the lack thereof, options are slim (hee hee) and this editorial emphasizes that in it's lack of creativity we're used to seeing in V.
I'm ALWAYS watching my weight, trying to lose weight, trying to maintain my weight, etc. etc.
Not only does obesity run in my family but I am motivated by what else...fashion.
When I open a glossy it not only makes me want to eat healthier but motivates me to get up and go to the gym. When I'm working out I'm picturing all the things I can wear in my new and improved body.
By NO means do I ever, ever, ever want to be a size zero but when you're fit and trim clothes FIT better.
Maybe the industry should start using robots who only eat Spacely Sprockets and never gain weight or complain that they're not represented on the runways.

Not only a lady...OUR First Lady!!!!
I was trying to avoid getting political on this blog....I tried, I tried, I tried.
Actually this is not a political statement. This is a fashion statement which you'll be seeing often because my girl Mrs. O (as I affectionately call her) has been making the fashion news since day one. (throw your hands in the air and wave um like you just don't care!!)
Every time she steps out she is STYLED!!! I can't even get my thoughts straight. Words truly can not explain how I felt last week, proud is an understatement....but this...this might push me over the edge!!!!!
You mean to tell me we get OBAMA for President of the United States of AMERICA AAAAAAAAAAND as a bonus we get a fashionable first lady!?!??! WHAT??! WHAT!?!?
I actually wasn't feeling this dress so much...I know, I know....but I gotta be honest!! Wasn't feeling the gradation of the red on black even though I KNOW her color choice was NOT accidental. BLACK for POWER. RED for POWER. Okay!! Um hmmm!!!!! OMFG! This is too good to be true, every time I think about my FIRST family I get chills! Whew!!! Deep breathes.
HMMM!!! I've always thought scrap booking was about the corniest thing on the planet BUT....
Dazing off.....
Noooooo I'm not going to start scrapbooking a Mrs. O fashion book and put gold stars and hearts all over each page. Never that kid. I'm too hardcore for that. (oooh now I have a real reason to get the Cricut so I can cut out I HEART OBAMA in red sparkly vinyl!! Oh hells no whats happening to me??!?!
Could it be I'm falling in looooooove with you baby?! Yeah I think your girl FINALLY understands what love feels like. My heart skips a beat just thinking bout my FIRST family. Too deep for this blog so I'm just gonna keep it moving.
Shhh dont tell nobody I've gone soft. shhh.
I'll still karate chop you if you cross me. yeah. and what?!

Don't let the Dow bring you Down!
I've started asking my favorite fashionistas if the economy has affected their shopping habits. Thankfully for me...AND www.cocolah.com it hasn't :) KEEP SHOPPIN!!!!If you ask me the MUST HAVE accessory for the economic slump is a pair of YakBlak Vintage Sunnies to mask the expression of sheer fear and gloom....just a thought.
So!!!! Here are a few tips on how to move forward in the next...few years? Yikes.
OK let me focus...here goes:
COAT! Note to my East coasters....I think more and more folks are FINALLY starting to pay attention to their Outerwear..thankfully!!! SNTDC. (Say No To Down Coats) unless you live in Antarctica there is really no excuse unless its 20 below zero which is rare thanks to global warming.
There is such a large range of beautiful coats in interesting patterns and textures. BE CREATIVE!!!! You'll only be wearing it for more than half of the year and when your (would be) fans see you in the street. YOU'RE STYLIN!!!

If you wear jeans...invest! splurge!!! Yes splurge in a new pair of killer jeans that fit you like WHOA! If you're anything like me once you find a pair that FITS. FITS. you won't take them off till the crotch starts fading away...that's when they really start looking good...why is that?! You try and try but fall right back into your trusty pair that hug your butt like so...sigh.. I'd stick to a dark wash or black for the winter months, you'll definitely to get the most wear and they can also cross over to semi dressy events.
Same goes for a great pair of slacks, get them altered if you have to....a dope suit if you can spare the change...might as well get it now while you can...you might need it later considering all the layoffs...sigh. Let's stay focused.
Shoes. A nice pair of dress shoes will take you a long, long way. If you're into sneakers, I can't help you there cus I dont know nothing about sneakers BUT my man "The Stuntman" will help you out in that area...he'll be featured here on cocolah.com next week with his column "A Stuntman's Style Guide". Stay tuned!!!!
Where was I?
Ah...yes shoes. Try getting a shoe that would look great with your suit AND jeans. See where we're going with this...they're called essentials.
Crisp white shirt NEVER, ever fails, makes you look crisp, clean and it is truly a timeless look..in layman's terms makes you look grown. Wear it while hanging out and/or to work. Switch up one of your many scarves and you got a completely new outfit every time. Leave it open for a more casual look. Tuck it in, buttoned up and out, under a cardigan or v-neck sweater...catch my drift?
Right now you have to figure that every piece that goes in your closet has to be versatile.
OH!!!! AANNND since we're sooo not getting our clothes dry cleaned...hand wash your precious white shirt!!! PLEASE! OR wash in the washing machine and HANG DRY!! Never, ever use bleach; it will yellow your shirt, try baking soda instead.
Pay extra attention to the collar and always add a little detergent and let it sit for a bit before hand washing...thank you very much.Moving on.
Most of us are well aware that the best way to get gear on a dime is thrift BUT!!!! Like attracts like so if you have fly friends...have a SWAP MEET!!! I had a swap meet a while back and it was a true success sooo much fun. I got rid of a lot of stuff in my closet I didn't want anymore but couldn't part with (story of my life).
Swapping with friends makes it easy to let go when you're getting that burgundy velvet blazer you've been secretly hating on. Now it's all yours!!! Try not to hate when you see your friend rocking that sweater you thought you were over...just let it go boo. Let it go.
That's all I gotta say about that.
Your favorite cocolah,
Yah
